Village Community Services Inc is a community-based organisation delivering programs and services that support local families and individuals. We manage multiple funded programs and operate within a grant-driven funding environment requiring strong financial accountability and compliance.
We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper who understands the complexities of community sector finance and grant-based program budgeting.
About the Role
This is an in-person bookkeeping role requiring approximately 6 hours per week, with occasional additional hours during reporting periods.
The successful applicant must be experienced in managing finances within a community or not-for-profit setting, including balancing multiple program budgets and ensuring accurate grant acquittal reporting.
This is not a basic data-entry role — we require someone who understands funding agreements, restricted income, and program cost allocation.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day bookkeeping functions
* Process payroll
* BAS preparation and reporting
* Superannuation processing
* Manage accounts payable and receivable
* Maintain accurate general ledger records
* Track and reconcile multiple program budgets
* Assist with grant reporting and financial acquittals
* Prepare financial reports for management and board
* Reconciling against petty cash reports.
* Support audit processes as required.
Essential Criteria
* Demonstrated experience in the community or not-for-profit sector
* Strong understanding of grant bookkeeping and acquittal processes
* Experience managing multiple program budgets simultaneously
* Payroll experience (including superannuation and PAYG obligations)
* BAS preparation experience
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and in person
* Familiarity with MYOB (desktop and online)
Desirable Criteria
* Experience supporting board-level financial reporting
* Experience developing new finance procedures with management
Hours & Remuneration
* Approximately 6 hours per week (in person)
* Occasional additional hours during peak periods
* $40–$70 per hour (dependent on experience)
