About the Sous Chef Role
The successful candidate will be accountable for overseeing the daily operations of a fast-paced kitchen environment. Key responsibilities include managing kitchen shift operations, estimating production needs, and communicating effectively with kitchen personnel.
* Culinary Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience in a commercial kitchen setting is required. Proven ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards of quality and presentation.
* Food Handling: Excellent food handling and preparation skills are essential. Knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety protocols is also required.
* Restaurant Experience: Prior experience working in a restaurant environment is desirable. Understanding of menu planning, inventory management, and customer service principles is an asset.
* Kitchen Management Experience: The ideal candidate will have experience managing kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
* Food Preparation Experience: Proficiency in food preparation techniques, including cooking methods, plating, and garnishing, is necessary. Familiarity with dietary requirements and allergens is also essential.
* Kitchen Experience: Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a senior role, is highly valued. Strong knowledge of kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances is required.
