Director, Finance and Corporate Services
Join the ACT Law Society in a key leadership role, shaping the financial and operational backbone of an organisation central to the legal profession in the ACT.
About the role
We're seeking a strategic and hands-on senior leader to take on the role of Director, Finance & Corporate Services. Reporting to the CEO and part of the senior leadership team, you'll be responsible for leading the Society's finance function, statutory fund administration, business operations, IT oversight, and risk and compliance frameworks.
This role is ideal for someone with CFO-level capability who thrives in a small collaborative environment, enjoys being close to the work, and wants to see the tangible impact of their leadership.
You'll work closely with the CEO and other directors to strengthen organisational systems, support the financial planning and reporting needs of other teams, and ensure the Society continues to meet its high governance standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Financial management and reporting, including hands-on financial transactional work, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, statutory funds administration, and audit preparation
Leadership of corporate services functions, including IT systems oversight and external provider coordination, office management, risk, and compliance
HR coordination and support through external providers, including records management, policy development, and WHS compliance
Supervision, development and recruitment of staff within the Finance & Corporate Services team to meet the growing needs of the organisation
Strategic contribution as a member of the senior leadership team, supporting cross-organisational planning and systems improvement
About you
You are a financially skilled, systems-savvy leader with excellent judgement and a collaborative approach. You enjoy working at both strategic and operational levels and bring experience across finance, corporate services, and business support functions.
You'll bring:
CPA or CA qualification
Strong financial management capability, including hands-on experience in financial administration, reporting, budgeting, compliance, and audits
Experience leading or overseeing IT, risk, HR, and operational services
Excellent people management and cross-team collaboration skills
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, and the ability to thrive in a small, agile organisation
Experience in the nonprofit or professional membership sector will be highly regarded.
