Primary objective
Responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT) national training, as well as supporting the delivery of Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)-funded programs. This includes developing detailed event plans and managing budgets, logistics, timelines and communications.
Key duties and responsibilities
* Development, coordination and management of events throughout the year, including the Australian Medical Assistance Team training exercise, Regional Engagement Programs (REP), Public Health Operations in Emergencies for National Strengthening in the Indo-Pacific (PHOENIX).
* In consultation with the Senior Director Operational Support oversee the implementation of a public affairs strategy, ensuring communication of consistent and accurate messages to all stakeholders.
* Liaise with Departmental Executives, managers and staff, ministerial officers and external stakeholders in developing and distributing information.
* Build and maintain a strong professional network across the Department, the public service and the Northern Territory (NT) and Australian Governments with local and national major project stakeholders.
* Source and negotiate with vendors, including venues, caterers, transport logistics and keynote speakers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
* Provide high-level and professional communication when collaborating with National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) staff, keynote speakers, stakeholders and vendors relevant to the delivery of the national exercise.
* Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
* Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
* Proven track record in event management fields.
* Proven capacity to deliver effective outcomes in event management and communications in a highly sensitive, confidential, cross-cultural and political environment.
* Extensive demonstrated events and project management experience coupled with an attention to detail and client focus.
* Demonstrated high level communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and succinctly to develop event plans.
* Practical knowledge of the potential, limitations, processes and operational requirements of large-scale events.
* Well-developed practical knowledge of event management in Government or in similar large organisations and an understanding of political processes.
* High level of personal performance including the ability to manage pressure and change in an environment of continuous improvement and modify approaches to suit changing requirements including the ability to work outside core Northern Territory Government (NTG) hours.
* Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team with high levels of integrity, discretion and confidentiality.Ability and availability to undertake duty travel as required.
Desirable
* Tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline (Event Management).
* Previous experience in delivering large scale events in a health environment.
