CU designs and manages the delivery of community assets and infrastructure for Local Government. We create inspirational, functional and sustainable design outcomes for the community through our multi-disciplinary team approach.
About the Role
Due to this period of rapid growth and opportunity, we are looking for an Architect to join our SA team in our Adelaide office. The Architect will perform all phases of architectural work including client liaison, project planning, design and documentation, and will be passionate about delivering positive outcomes for the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Interpret design briefs and prepare design concepts.
* Assist in preparation of documentation – DA through to tender and construction documentation, tender applications, presentations and planning applications.
* Assist with specifications and schedules.
* Liaise with and coordinate sub‐consultants.
* Perform on‐site checks and documentation during all stages of a project for quality assurance as well as marketing purposes.
* Apply and interpret legislative requirements as they apply to buildings in the public domain or urban environment.
* Assist effectively consulting clients about their design needs, restrictions and opportunities as well as desired environment and practicality outcomes.
* Work closely with the Urban Design Principal and multi-disciplinary team to resolve and deliver on agreed design and project targets.
* Add to and upkeep current skills, training and knowledge.
* Strive to meet client expectations and ensure successful outcomes by providing functional, inspirational, and sustainable design outcomes.
* Support the development of high quality, innovative and functional design.
* Assist with preparing feasibility reports and design proposals.
* Develop ideas keeping in mind client's needs, the use of the building and environmental impact.
* Adhere to and assist managing project budgets and timelines.
* Assist in facilitating stakeholder or client meetings.
* Ensure that all works are carried out to specific standards, building codes, guidelines and regulations.
* Ensure that all matters relating to contracts, administration and project scheduling are met and that any issues are resolved in keeping with project budget and time constraints.
Qualifications
* 2-7 years' experience in a design/architectural professional environment, particularly within the public domain.
* Relevant tertiary qualification in Architecture or qualification in Architectural Drafting.
* Community focused work experience, and local government relationships would be considered an advantage.
Skills
* Strong communication and project management skills.
* Strong skill and familiarity with design software (ArchiCAD, Adobe Photoshop, 3D Twinmotion or similar graphics packages).
* Creativity and the ability to think and plan in three dimensions.
* Excellent building construction knowledge.
* Visual awareness and an eye for detail.
* Design Sensibility.
* Good knowledge of NCC and Australian Standards.
* Good knowledge of construction detailing.
