As our Senior Collection Services Officer, you'll play a key role in ensuring Mackay's library collections continue to inform, inspire and connect our community.
About this opportunity
This is a hands‐on senior role for someone who enjoys working with collections end‐to‐end, from selection and acquisitions through to cataloguing, metadata quality and continuous improvement. You will provide specialist expertise in collection services while supporting the Librarian, Collections and guiding others through your technical knowledge, professional practice and contribution to service‐wide improvements.
What you will be doing
* Assist with collection development activities to help ensure collections remain relevant, balanced and responsive to community needs.
* Support high‐quality cataloguing and metadata practices so resources are easy to find, access and use.
* Catalogue materials using existing records (including Libraries Australia and Z39.50) and maintain authority control.
* Assist in coordinating acquisitions workflows, including ordering, receiving, invoicing, claims, cancellations and standing orders.
* Support relationships with library suppliers and vendors to assist smooth procurement and issue resolution.
* Provide guidance, coaching and day‐to‐day technical support to staff involved in cataloguing and acquisitions.
* Collaborate with Branch Librarians on the acquisition of audio‐visual materials.
* Contribute to the review and improvement of collection services procedures and workflows.
* Provide higher‐level customer service support, particularly for circulation and information enquiries.
What you will bring
* A library technician qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
* Demonstrated experience in cataloguing, acquisitions and metadata quality.
* Confidence working with vendors and coordinating procurement processes.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to consistency and service quality.
* Experience supporting, training or mentoring others in a library environment.

* Competitive salary (Stream A Level 3) $82,413.24
