The Client
Xcell Construction Group located in Sydenham in VIC offers professional building services to residential clients. The building company is in need of experienced carpenters to join with them on multiple sites as their permanent team members.
The Role
The position is well-suited for experienced carpenters with a strong passion for performing carpentry tasks efficiently and on time. This role is full time with an annual salary set at $78,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation.
Responsibilities
* Interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements.
* Cut, shape, and assemble materials using manual and power tools, ensuring accuracy and precision.
* Construct, set up, repair, and maintain structures and fixtures in wood and other materials, following specific guidelines.
* Select, source, and manage construction materials, maintaining an inventory of supplies and ensuring that materials are secured and assembled using hand tools, wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
* Adhere to local building regulations, safety rules, and environmental standards.
* Maintain a safe and clean work environment, wearing appropriate clothing and footgear at all times.
* Coordinate and supervise activities of workers to ensure construction requirements are met.
* Performing lock-up, fix-out, eaves installation, and external cladding works, as well as fitting door and window frames, ensuring high-quality finishes and structural integrity in all residential construction projects.
* Communicate with clients to discuss project details, updates, and alterations, aiming to meet their expectations and complete work within the allocated timeline and budget.
* Move essential materials around the job site as allocated and clean-up worksite debris.
* Manage the condition of carpentry tools and construction equipment, performing necessary repairs and adjustments.
Requirements
* Relevant trade qualification in Carpentry (Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent).
* Minimum of 1 year post-qualification experience performing construction carpentry works in a professional building environment.
* Minimum of 1 year experience undertaking structural and finishing carpentry tasks, including framing, formwork, fix-out, and installation works.
* Minimum of 1 year experience reading, interpreting, and applying architectural blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
* Minimum of 1 year experience installing, assembling, and fixing commercial building components including wall and ceiling framing systems, doors, windows, linings, and external cladding in accordance with project specifications.
* Minimum of 1 year experience setting out and aligning commercial carpentry works using measurements, levels, and layout references to ensure accuracy, tolerances, and compliance with approved construction drawings.
* Current Australian driver's licence.
* High level of physical capability and manual dexterity, including the ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive manual tasks.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver work to construction tolerances and quality standards.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within site teams.
* Australian residency or valid working rights preferred.
