About the role
A key role reporting to the Well Integrity Lead responsible for the planning and delivery of a broad range of well intervention activities, including pump recompletions, remedial workovers, and/or well abandonment projects. This role involves developing remedial strategies, preparing detailed workover programs, specifying equipment requirements and conducting well integrity assessments.
Beyond upfront engineering and planning, the Well Engineer will also lead the execution phase, ensuring operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Origin’s objectives—on time and within budget.
While the role is primarily office-based, regular field visits are expected to foster strong relationships with field teams and deepen operational understanding.

* Plan and deliver well intervention and abandonment scopes, including pump recompletions, remedial workovers, and well abandonments.
* Prepare and document remedial strategies, workover programs, equipment specifications, and well integrity assessments.
* Lead the execution of well activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery in line with budget and schedule.
* Ensure compliance with Origin standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
* Manage project budgets and timelines, providing regular progress updates and identifying risks or deviations.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align engineering solutions with broader asset goals.
* Define technical requirements and support procurement through engagement with vendors and service providers.
* Conduct regular field visits to strengthen relationships, enhance operational understanding, and support activity execution.
* Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and integrating feedback into future planning.
About you
* Strong commitment to safety culture, with the ability to positively influence and promote continuous improvement in safety practices.
* Tertiary qualification in Engineering.
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in land-based oil and gas development projects or oilfield services, including supervisory responsibilities in field-based operational roles.
* Demonstrated experience in well intervention operations, including pump recompletions and remedial well abandonments utilising wireline, coiled tubing, and rig-based methods.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster collaboration across internal teams (Drilling, Supply Chain, Production Engineering) and external contractors to deliver shared outcomes.
