The Role: Our client is looking for a qualified and experienced welder/fabricator to join their team. This role will provide trade support to Engineering and Fleet services through the fabrication and refurbishment of fire and rescue appliances, utility pods and associated equipment. This is an opportunity to start or further your career with a Tasmanian Government department where growth is happening. Duties and Responsibilities: Design and manufacture components and fittings for a wide variety of vehicles including fire appliances, emergency services rescue units, utility pods and associated equipment. Maintain accurate records and drawings of appliance builds and fabricated components. Assist with the training and supervision of apprentices or less experienced staff. Complete time sheets, vehicle logbooks and job sheets. What we require from you: Hold a recognised trade certificate of Boilermaker / Welder or equivalent. Manual driver's license is required. Medium Rigid endorsed licence is desirable Experience in heavy vehicle body fabrication and assembly A knowledge of pumps, plumbing systems and associated equipment or the ability to acquire such knowledge Ability to work as an effective member of a team in an environment of sensitivity, confidentiality, competing priorities deadlines and change Sound interpersonal skills, with written and oral communication ability. Initial benefits: Competitive rates plus Penalty rates for overtime.
