Job Title: Emergency Consultant
About the Role:
This role requires a suitably qualified and experienced specialist to provide emergency services to adult and paediatric patients.
The ideal candidate will promote quality and safe patient care, lead and manage teams of doctors in training and other healthcare professionals, and maintain ethical and respectful behaviour towards staff and patients.
The position involves clinical management of emergency department patients, maintaining awareness of indigenous customs and community expectations, participating in after-hours on-call duties, and supervising junior medical staff.
The successful candidate will be a Fellow of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or have equivalent professional membership, with substantial clinical experience in managing high acuity patients in complex hospital environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide clinical management of emergency department patients
* Maintain ethical and respectful behaviour towards all staff and patients
* Awareness of indigenous customs and community expectations in considering how best to look after, admit or discharge indigenous patients
* Participate fully in the doctors' roster including after hours on call duties as agreed with the Head of Department
* Supervise junior medical staff including assessment of clinical performance and behaviour documentation discharge summaries communication with patients and families cultural awareness in regard to indigenous patients and communities awareness of cultural and language diversity in the community
* Participate as a valued team member promoting and contributing to a supportive team environment
Requirements:
To be successful in this role you must have:
* Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent professional membership
* Substantial clinical experience in managing high acuity patients in complex hospital environments
* Ability to build and lead a collaborative team in the delivery of high-quality specialist medical care
* Demonstrated ability to drive clinical quality initiatives
