Job Description:
The facilities maintenance specialist will be responsible for maintaining buildings and associated structures to ensure that all areas are maintained regularly. Ensuring weekly, monthly and annual tasks are performed within timelines as outlined by the manager. The role includes undertaking required training or professional development should it be required.
* Maintaining and improving the school grounds (especially lawns, gardens and recreation areas), facilities and buildings
* Undertaking regular routine inspections and identifying issues requiring maintenance
* Undertaking routine repairs, cleaning and maintenance of the facilities
* Working with contractors to attend to tasks that require registered tradespeople and ensuring OHS requirements in relation to sub-contractors are met
* Undertaking small building projects and painting as required
* Repairing/maintaining furniture as required
* Liaising with the facilities manager on a regular basis
* Supporting staff in relocating furniture and equipment
* Ensuring tools and equipment are in a serviceable condition and reporting any faults to the facilities manager
* Ensuring the maintenance sheds are always clean and orderly in accordance with OH&S principles
* Carpentry, plumbing and brickwork repairs as determined within skill capacity
* Working together with the management team to ensure occupational health & safety requirements are met
* Complying with legislated occupational health and safety practices and participating in consultative processes
* Observing safe work practices in accordance with school policy, training, and instructions
* Identifying, reporting, and where appropriate, action risks/hazards in order to eliminate or mitigate against the risk recurring (risks arising in the workplace may be financial, site, task, or person specific or related to safety)
* Promoting and implementing occupational health and safety and risk mitigation processes within Pomonal Primary School
