About the Role

Tenure:Permanent full-time

Science and Innovation, Industry and Corporate Capability builds the State's capacity through targeted support, fostering innovation and industry capability and ensures effective and efficient administration of DEED's financial assistance and equity programs and business support functions.

We are looking for an experienced legal professional to take on the role of General Counsel Legal Services for DEED. The General Counsel provides authoritative and strategic legal advice and counsel to the Director General, relevant Ministers and the executive on highly complex, sensitive and high risk legal and legislative issues.

In the role you will also lead DEED's Legal Services division, managing the Departments in‐house legal team and provide strategic direction of the legal portfolio to deliver critical Department outcomes and alignment of legal service priorities with WA Government and Department objectives.

The position also plays a critical role in managing the provision of external legal services including managing the State's role in international arbitration proceedings and overseas lawyers.
