Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal ofenabling human life on Mars.GNC SOFTWARE ENGINEER (STARSHIP)RESPONSIBILITIES:Create analysis tools, applications, and execution pipelines that allow vehicles to be flown quickly, reliably, and robustly for the Starship GNC teamDesign and lead development of new software projectsReview existing tools and processes and drive more efficient or more reliable approachesParticipate in all phases of a mission, from feasibility analysis and research to concrete mission design and launch operationsPerform trajectory design, optimization, and dispersion analysis for Starship launch vehicle missions for all phases of flight including ascent, on-orbit, entry and landingBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, math, or scientific discipline and 2+ years in a software engineering role2+ years of experience with Python and Python based development frameworksPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Experience in any of the following: orbital mechanics, flight dynamics, classical dynamics, modeling, robotics, or simulationProfessional or academic experience with physics and/or experience with software as it relates to the physical worldStrong competency in software development practices including testing and continuous integrationProfessional experience in web applications developmentExperience working directly on engineering or scientific computing problemsEducational or professional background in Guidance, Navigation, and ControlDemonstrated project or professional experience in launch vehicle and/or spacecraft systemsProfessional experience with other programming languages such as C/C++ or JavaScriptExperience with high performance computing systems or large-scale data analysis systemsFocus on performance bottlenecks and performance improvement techniquesMust be willing to work extended hours and weekends as neededITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. * 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. * 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
