Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Youth Worker to support young people in their educational and personal development. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating effective learning programs, promoting physical and emotional wellbeing, and maintaining a supportive school environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people, knowledge of local First Nations communities, and the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Effective learning and teaching programs for young people in both middle and senior phases of secondary education.
* Physical health and emotional wellbeing of the young people.
* Development and implementation of the school's strategic and operational plans regarding the function of your role as youth worker.
* Maintenance of a supportive and inclusive school environment.
Requirements
* A Working with Children Clearance Notice
* Current driver's licence (essential) or Light Rigid license (highly desirable)
* Previous experience in the youth sector with knowledge and understanding of the local First Nations communities.
Desired Skills
* Understanding of and commitment to principles of social justice
* Understanding of current youth work practice, trends and issues in service provision to marginalised young people particularly within the alternate education sector
* Sound level of verbal and written communication skills, including participating in meeting processes, report writing and negotiation skills
