Commercial Specialist
The role of a Commercial Specialist is multifaceted and challenging. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the commercial function by performing routine activities and providing accurate, timely, and relevant information.
Coordinating with related areas, including operations, finance, and project controls, you will contribute to negotiations of key subcontracts and purchase orders. This involves ensuring appropriate flow-downs, other risks, and compensation provisions from the prime contract.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the development of tenders and conduct response evaluation in accordance with AUSDEFCON suite requirements
* Assist with commercial and procurement functions in sustainment areas
* Plan, organise, and develop all procurement documentation required for projects, and obtain relevant internal approvals
* Manage contractual, procurement, and financial activities and relationships, including but not limited to:
o Manage sustainment procurement activities through Direct Commercial Sales and Foreign Military Sales methods
o Assist with commercial risk, opportunity, and issues management
o Assist with export controls and international trafficking in arms regulations (ITAR) advice, management, and compliance
o Manage Intellectual Property and Technical Data in accordance with approved plans (as applicable and appropriate)
Budgetary Responsibility:
* Follow commercial delegations as allocated by the Commonwealth
Qualifications & Experience:
* Have a minimum of five years' experience in a similar role
* Possess a relevant recognised tertiary qualification in Business, Legal, Finance or similar, or demonstrate relevant professional experience
* Experience in Defence and Commonwealth Government finance and contracting policy and practices
* Experience in Defence procurement
* Experience with MILIS and CARDS highly desirable
* Experience in financial planning, pricing, planning, billing procedures, and contract administration
* Experience with SAP is desirable
* Experience with implementation of and compliance with export controls and the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is desirable
* Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain spreadsheet models
* Experienced user of MS Office products
* AGSVA security clearance – NV 1 (minimum) with ability to obtain NV2 is required
