About the Role:
The Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) for Maternity at John Hunter Hospital is a key position in leading the midwifery service to provide high-quality maternity care. As the CMC, you will play a crucial role in attending committee meetings as the maternity representative on various committees within and outside the hospital. You will review policies and procedures within the wards, assist in maintaining the Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI) accreditation, and lead research on perineal trauma.
As a leader in the midwifery service, you will be supported by the Service Manager of Maternity and Gynaecology, as well as the dynamic leadership team. Monthly accountability meetings will be put in place to support your learning, mentorship is available, and you will be encouraged and supported to attend conferences on midwifery specialties.

To be successful in this role, you must have current registration as a Registered Midwife with Authority to Practice with AHPRA, with at least 7 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience, and at least 5 years full-time equivalent experience in the specialty field.
