The Grounds and Maintenance Manager is responsible for the development, planning, scheduling and maintenance of the College grounds and facilities, whilst maintaining a courteous, efficient and productive high-quality service for students, visitors and staff. They will ensure that students and staff have continual access to the grounds and other resources with minimal downtime. It is imperative that response times are swift, and that the delivery of the curriculum is not negatively impacted by maintenance issues.The Grounds and Maintenance Manager will demonstrate relevant theoretical knowledge and have the technical knowledge or experience to perform a wide variety of duties usually without technical instructions.Duties and responsibilities include:Supervise and provide direction to other Grounds and Maintenance Officers and Bus Drivers (LSO grade 1A-3)Undertake contractor management with trades people on site.Be responsible for developing schedules and monitoring a range of property service functions, including but not limited to the College Maintenance programme, playground inspection schedule, irrigation schedule and maintenance program.Ensure all College grounds, garden beds, play areas, carparks, walkways and building surrounds are well maintained, free of weeds, rubbish and comply with WH&S requirements.Perform general maintenance, repair, renovations and landscaping projects which may include the use of skills in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical services, painting, welding and paving.Be responsible for the creation and maintenance of gardens and sports grounds which require the use of horticultural and landscaping skills.Ensure compliance is maintained on a range of services such as, electrical, back flow devices, grease arrestors, settlement tanks, fire equipment and emergency exit lights.Maintain and repair vehicles, machinery and equipment.Perform a range of security duties including coordination of security contract services, alarm responses and emergency response.Assist in setting up for events such as Worship and Assemblies.Ensure any staff/maintenance requests are prioritised and completed promptly.Liaise with the Principal and Business Manager regarding major repairs/replacements to buildings or grounds.Organise appropriate tradesmen to rectify infrastructure, to complete large maintenance items and projects.Be an active member of the Emergency Response Team.Perform purchasing functions including: determine quality and quantities required, obtain quotes and negotiate with suppliers as required, raise purchase order numbers and arrange authorisation.Develop and manage the Grounds and Maintenance budget in consultation with the Business Manager.Undertake record keeping of scheduled, uncompleted and completed maintenance.Experience and qualificationsPrevious experience with a broad range of skills in maintenance and horticulture, preferably in a school or education environment.·Previous experience managing employees is desirable.A MR license to drive a bus and Driver Accreditation or willing to obtain.About Navigator CollegeNavigator College is a Lutheran School from Early Learning through to Year 12.
