Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. The role:
An exciting opportunity exists for a Hydrographer to join a dynamic Hydrographic team to maintain an optimised hydro-meteorological network for water resources data collection and management. This permanent, full time role is based in Cooma, NSW. We understand that relocating to a regional area can be both exciting and challenging. Your key responsibilities in this role will include:
* Perform hydrological field measurements for stream flow gaugings, snowpack assessments, meteorological observations and water quality parameters
* Develop plans and business cases for new, refurbishment or disposal of assets
* Provide technical advice on current industry standards, technology and trends
* Undertake audits to evaluate and report on asset and system Performance
* Develop and maintain standards for data collection and management
* Perform daily and monthly water balances
We're looking for someone with:
* Diploma of Water Industry Operations (Hydrography), or relevant tertiary engineering/hydrological/water resources qualification and sound experience in industry
* Demonstrated knowledge of current hydrometric practices and knowledge of geographic, hydrological and meteorological processes.
* High level hydro-met instrumentation selection, installation, maintenance and fault finding skills
* Demonstrated competence with computer systems used for processing hydrographic time series data, equipment and station databases.
* Ability to operate and work in boats, helicopters, over snow and in remote alpine locations
The role is required to work flexibly to meet the requirements of the Hydrographic function. This will include frequent regional travel and occasional work outside of normal business hours and formal duties.
