* About the Role

We are looking for Disability Support Workers who are passionate about disability support and mentoring and have a positive attitude to help participants achieve their NDIS goals in the community and in their daily lives. The right candidates will also help them build resilience, self-confidence, and self-worth.

In particular we are looking for support workers residing near Bribie Island and surrounds, and we invite suitable applicants with interest in disability, mental health and autism behavioural support to apply.

The successful applicants must have the flexibility to work on weekdays, morning or afternoons, evenings, and weekend and public holiday as required. Weekend Shift Availability will be prioritised. Some travelling around the Brisbane area may be required to support particular participants. Shifts currently are predominantly within Moreton Bay's Bribie Island region and out to Morayfield /Caboolture, preference given to workers based in this region due to travelling needed to get to deliver supports.

Shifts are predominantly short shifts 2-6 hours between 6am and 2000pm. Some are based around outside of school hours so availability and highly valued. However other shifts are encompassed in the daytime too, and some flexibility in time availablity due to participant needs is required. Due to a signifcant client intake we have multiple shifts to fill. Several participants require workers with autism experience and behaviours highly valued, and knowledge of vision impairment valued.

Experience not necessary, but having other skills to bring to the table will be valued. Skills in crafts, cooking and arts, outdoor activities such as biking or walking/ hiking would be valued as well to work with both female and male adults, as well as working with children with autism and behaviours. The right attitude to support work is the most valued trait.

Casual rates will be based on level and qualification according to the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS).

Key responsibilities include:

* Assisting with personal care needs, such as meals and meal preparation, and hygiene
* Access to Social, Community and Recreational Activities
* Some specifically require accompanying participants on outings involving going fishing or hiking/ long walks)
* Providing transportation or public transportation training for participants to access social and recreational activities, attend appointments or assisting young people to/from school
* Offering emotional and social support to participants and young people in their home or local community
* Providing a safe environment and quality care to vulnerable adults and young people / children
* Providing emotional support to children and young people with behavioural challenges and trauma backgrounds (Autism Knowledge greatly valued)

To be Successful, you will Need:

* Qualifications not necessary. Qualification such as Certificate III in Individual Support (or similar), or a higher qualification valued.
* Current Blue and Yellow Card
* Current driver's license with your reliable, road worthy, serviced, fully insured vehicle as travel is involved between clients, and on shifts
* Current first aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience in/Ability to work with clients with challenging behaviours and complex care needs (Mental Health and Autism)
* Confidence and professionalism when providing client-focused support
* Strong professional boundaries and the ability to follow procedures
* Ability to work with a small and growing team
* Ability to be flexible within the work environment and work as part of a team
* Access to your portable smart device (e.g. phone)
* Completion of the free "Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety and You'" and providing a certificate -
* Completion of, or willingness to complete, the Child Safety 'Hope & Healing' framework and providing a certificate
