If you like the idea of working side-by-side with a down-to-earth leadership team while steering the financial direction of a $100m+ business, this could be the role for you. As Finance Director at Caledonia Group, you will oversee forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, and cashflow management— keeping our financial position every bit as strong as the projects we deliver.
Who’s hiring?
For over 25 years, Caledonia Group has been a trusted partner for scaffolding, rope access, insulation, cladding, and engineering solutions—delivering projects from the ground up and, quite literally, high above it. Our work holds up some of the biggest projects in mining, energy, infrastructure, and commercial sectors across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond. Safety, precision, and efficiency are what we’re built on, backed by a leadership team with over 120 years of combined experience. We’re now looking for a highly-skilled Finance Director who can lead our financial operations and drive growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability.
So, what’s the role?
As Financial Director, you’ll be the financial lead for a $100m+ turnover, 500-strong workforce, working directly with the directors to keep the business financially fit, future-focused, and ready for growth. It’s part strategy, part sleeves-rolled-up, and all about making sure the business has the insights, systems, and stability to make smart decisions. This is a role with influence, variety, and the scope to make a genuine impact in a company that’s growing across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.
Here’s what a typical week in the role might look like:
* Shaping the company’s financial direction through forward-looking budgets, forecasts, cashflow plans, and capital expenditure strategies.
* Leading executive-level decisions with high-level financial insights, scenario planning, and evidence-based recommendations.
* Leading and developing the finance function with a calm, decisive style.
* Overseeing the integrity of all financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Influencing key relationships with directors, banks, accountants, and strategic partners.
* Driving profitability and efficiency by identifying and delivering on opportunities for cost optimisation, smart investment, and process improvement.
* Embedding robust financial governance through controls, policies, and systems that safeguard assets and mitigate risk.
Enough about us—let's talk about whether this role is for you!
We’re looking for someone who has:
* A calm approach under pressure and the ability to work autonomously— but still enjoys being part of a close-knit leadership team.
* A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (CA or CPA required).
* Extensive senior finance leadership experience, ideally in construction, engineering, or a similar complex environment.
* An absolute pro at forecasting, budgeting, cashflow management, and strategic planning.
* Excellent communication skills— from the worksite to the boardroom.
* The integrity, judgment, and commercial acumen to lead and influence big decisions.
What’s in it for you?
* Competitive salary package and benefits
* Lay the foundations for the next phase of growth in a $100m+ national construction business.
* Work alongside directors who will value your expertise and want you involved in every major decision.
* Down-to-earth, no-nonsense company culture.
* Secure role in a stable and growing industry.
* Influence major strategic decisions and help shape the company’s success.
