Fixed-Term Full-Time Senior Leader position (3+3), with a continuing substantive full-time teaching.
Start: 20 January 2025 or to be negotiated with successful applicant.
Salary: Teacher's classification with Promotional Position Allowance, Category 4, Level 1.
0.4 FTE Teaching Load.
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:Geraldton Flexible School is a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition. There are 23 Flexible Schools throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and flexible schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.
The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Associate Head of Campus position exists to provide leadership support across the Edmund Rice Flexible Learning School at Geraldton Flexible School site with a focus on Learning, Pedagogy and Curriculum. The role works in close cooperation with the Principal, and the Regional Support Team. The person has delegated responsibility to enhance, develop and maintain an innovative and inclusive education, wellbeing and social inclusion responses for Young People enrolled at Geraldton Flexible School. ABOUT YOU
Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system of schools in the Edmund Rice tradition.
A Minium of three years in a leadership position in a Flexi or Special Assistance schools with proven senior leadership experience, both strategic and operational, characterised by strong organisational, administrative, communication, and leadership skills, particularly in relation to areas outlined in this position.
Able to demonstrate the high-level communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to be successful in a complex and layered organisational structure.
Tertiary qualifications in Teaching with eligibility for teacher registration with WA Teacher Registration Board, hold current open driver's license and willingness to drive school buses.
5 or more years' experience in working within an educational context supporting vulnerable young people re-engage with learning and wellbeing pathways.
Demonstrated commitment to the values of Edmund Rice Education Australia. The person needs to be able to demonstrate a commitment to building just communities based on the Touchstones of; Inclusive community, Gospel Spirituality, Justice and Solidarity and Liberating Education, which enhance learning and wellbeing for young people.
Demonstrated leadership of the development and maintenance of programs for young people at risk. Substantial knowledge of, and experience in, one or more of the aspects of leadership (as identified in the Key Accountabilities). The person needs to be able to demonstrate an ability to assist staff in this area and to engage in reflective practice on how to best enhance learning for disenfranchised young people.
Demonstrated experience and ability to provide leadership in trauma transformative practice and wellbeing support that supports young people to build a learner identity, achieve positive social outcomes, and re-engage in education.
Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing a range of learning choices and assessments that meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of young people at risk.
Commitment to and ability to lead a multi-disciplinary community in reflection around working together under four principles of operation: Respect, Safe and Legal, Honesty and Participation. The principles establish a "common ground" among staff, young people and families, where the means to resolve difference, negotiate learning, recognise rights, responsibilities and consequences are modelled and explored, both within the group and individually.
Bus license required or willingness to obtain one.
