Overview-Software Engineers have experience overseeing software development projects, writing optimised code, and provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers. They are responsible for the quality and functionality of the software produced by their team.Software Engineers at the EL1 equivalent level are also called Development Experts.Objectstar Development Experts have technical expertise in code building, technical analysis, applications development, application integration and domain expertise, and skills in Objectstar migration.
Objectstar Development Experts lead software development projects and provide technical leadership to their teams.They manage software planning, development, and construction activities, and evaluate and resolve complex issues within the development and production environments.
Objectstar Development Experts are responsible for the quality and functionality of software, ensuring adherence to relevant standards, guidelines, and methods for system development.
Key duties and responsibilitiesDuties may include some or all of the following:Developing and supporting Objectstar applicationsSupport Objectstar data migration project and subsequently application code transformationlead and create software and technical designs for the realisation of highly complex development solutionsdevelop strategy to ensure high quality code and long-term maintenance of a product's code baseprovide specialist technical advice on software development and maintenancelead the release and ensure go-live production support and maintenance for the team’s developmentslead analysis, design, software development, prototyping, unit testing and maintenance activitiesreview and undertake high-level analysis of technical requirements to support project evaluation with proposed solutionsensure compliance with endorsed software development methodologiesinvestigate and resolve highly complex ICT issueslead a positive risk management cultureengage and manage stakeholder relationships and partner with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capabilitycontribute to business and strategic workforce planning, and drive the development of local strategies to improve key performance measuresmanage business objectives and implement strategic priorities to achieve outcomeslead the development and delivery of projects within the assigned area of responsibilityDevelopment Experts are expected to have the ability to:think strategically and align operational activity accordinglylead and motivate team members to achieve quality outcomesdevelop and maintain a range of internal and external stakeholder relationshipsresolve conflict using appropriate strategiesunderstand the audience and context, and effectively tailor communication and communication stylesdevelop long term plans for technical directions and manage work in the context of business prioritiesundertake objective, systematic analysis and draw accurate conclusions based on evidencemake decisions based on professional judgement, risk evaluation and in the context of the environmentwork highly independently under broad direction and act collaborativelymanage competing priorities to achieve quality outcomes and project completionlead change initiatives and support staff through uncertainty and the change processassess risks and develop and implement mitigation strategiesshare knowledge and mentor and guide staff learning and development
