Location: Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre Employment status: Permanent Full-time 1.0 FTE, Part time or Casual hours available Classification: Municipal Officer Level 1A Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2024 Salary range: $62,713 per annum + 13.5% superannuation or Part time (pro-rata) or Casual $38.08 per hour (including casual loading)
About the role
This role contributes to the success of the City by promoting and encouraging tourism yield and visitor dispersal through the provision of quality tourism information and booking services while contributing to revenue for the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre (TTIC).
Role accountabilities include:
* Understanding the information and booking needs of visitors across online and in‑person channels to deliver an excellent sales and service experience.
* Managing travel sales enquiries and supporting conversion targets and KPIs set by the TTIC.
* Providing accurate and engaging Tasmanian tourism information and identifying opportunities to promote and sell tourism and retail products.
* Making reservations, issuing travel documentation, and processing financial transactions including cash and credit card handling.
* Supporting team goals through effective time management, collaboration and strong customer focus.
* Maintaining professional personal presentation in line with TTIC standards.
* Completing daily operational tasks and undertaking additional duties within scope of skills and training.

About you

You will bring:
* Experience using Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn reservation systems.
* Strong attention to detail, particularly in processing payments and financial transactions.
* Confidence engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and the ability to maintain a friendly and professional approach during busy periods.
* A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a small team.
* A proactive, solutions‑focused attitude with genuine enthusiasm for Tasmanian tourism products and supporting the local economy.
* Ability to display empathy towards others, self-reflect and demonstrate organisational value and behavioural standards
You will also hold or be able to quickly obtain:
* Completion of Year 12 or a Certificate III in a relevant field, plus knowledge or experience in customer service, sales, or Tasmanian tourism.
* Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
