Overview
We are seeking an experienced Privacy & Data Senior Lawyer to join a high-performing Westpac Group team. The role focuses on privacy, technology, commercial and data-related matters across the Group. Location: Sydney. Hybrid working model.
Responsibilities
Providing advice, guidance and training on Westpac Group's compliance with Australian Privacy Law, GDPR, Consumer Data Right/Open Banking and cyber security obligations (SOCI).
Reviewing, drafting and leading negotiations on privacy and data security clauses in technology and commercial procurement contracts.
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on regulatory compliance matters related to privacy and data, including changes in privacy and data laws, prudential regulation and internal policy in a proactive manner.
Qualifications
Strong interest in privacy law and regulation, trends, government policy, with proven experience and knowledge advising, and providing training on, GDPR and Australian privacy law issues
Demonstrated collaboration with your organisation's privacy compliance office
Experience in successfully supporting regulatory change projects to completion and advising on privacy law issues in jurisdictions other than Australia and UK/EU desirable (e.g. New Zealand, USA, China)
Collaborative, team-oriented approach, as well as a proactive drive and a positive attitude to growth and learning
Strong client management and time management skills and abilities
Experienced at drafting and negotiating complex commercial and technology contracts
