The Fitter Leading Hand is responsible for leading and supervising a maintenance team conducting general maintenance work to achieve required results. In addition the Fitter Leading Hand will carry out general mechanical work in a workshop environment and/or breakdowns on heavy mobile and fixed plant and equipment.

* ensure the safe, efficient and quality completion of all tasks as assigned by the Workshop Supervisor and when that person is absent direct the crew independently;
* manage and allocate duties of repairs, servicing and scheduled maintenance for fitters;
* issue work orders to tradespersons;
* provide supervision and guidance for tradespersons and apprentices;
* ensure all work allocated for crew is carried out and that all work carried out is in accordance with the relevant Technical/Standard Work Procedures;;
* ensure equipment is statutory compliant, all repairs are completed in a timely manner and all work is done to a high safety and quality standard;
* assist tradespersons and apprentices with the mechanical work, hydraulic diagnosis and repair of faults when required;
* complete and file administration documents daily;
* receipt goods on delivery dockets;
* stocktake BOC rent container holdings monthly;
* liaise with supervisors and operators on daily progress;
* complete accurate daily shift reports detailing work performed;
* complete stocktake on oil, tyre and rim, rotable components, inventory free items when required;
* source part numbers daily;
* ensure tyre and rim change sheet is filled out as required;
* check completed work orders and sign daily;
* inspect work done on completed work orders daily;
* fill out and sign maintenance worksheets daily;
* attend and contribute to pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, safety meetings, roster change and shift change meetings when required;
* complete all pre start checks prior to use of equipment;
* relevant Heavy Vehicle Mobile Equipment / Diesel Fitter trade qualifications;
* experience working with underground mining equipment;
* valid manual drivers licence;
* current First Aid & CPR qualification;
* demonstrated strong fault finding skills;
* auto electrical knowledge;
* ability to read schematics;
* demonstrated leadership ability;
* high levels of initiative and the ability to work well under pressure;
* strong planning and organisational skills to schedule and complete tasks;
