This pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading
**The Role**
If you have excellent technical legal skills, in particular strong statutory interpretation and legislative development skills, are looking for a 12-month non-ongoing contract or looking for a temporary or pernanent transfer, have a NV clearance and based on Canberra, this might be the role you have been looking for
**Key Duties**
- Consulting with stakeholders across government, industry, civil society and the university sector
- Developing policy and legislative drafting proposals
- Under limited direction, bringing forward solutions on complex matters and supporting senior leadership
- Working with the Office of Parliamentary Counsel to draft legislative reforms
- Developing and implementing project plans, working in a context of tight timelines and dynamic priorities
- Drafting clear and persuasive advice and policy documents, including to brief Ministers
- Managing regulatory and compliance processes in line with best practice
- Mentoring and developing junior staff
- Acting as EL2 as required.
- You must be able to work well in a busy environment, think creatively and deliver client-focused legal solutions.
- You require the capability to develop deep expertise in the sanctions regulatory framework
- You will be required to have experience in providing legal advice, drafting legal documents, drafting legislation and providing legal solutions for clients.
- You will need to be committed to building strong interpersonal relationships to influence, negotiate and deliver work that is complex and sensitive.
- You will be able to build and maintain complex relationships with key stakeholders including other government agencies, industry, universities, and international counterparts and, in certain roles, to support international negotiations or litigation, and strengthen the multilateral system and bilateral relationships.
- You will work with a community of professionals dedicated to the national interest, in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Legal qualifications required, and experience in legislative drafting and parliamentary process are highly desirable.
