About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Product Manager to lead the development and ongoing improvement of PLD's digital platforms.

Working closely with developers, designers and internal stakeholders, you will translate business and user needs into clear product requirements and guide development teams to deliver high‐quality, scalable solutions.

You will manage product backlogs, guide development priorities and help ensure our platforms continue to evolve in ways that deliver meaningful value for educators.

This is a Perth Office based 12‐month full‐time fixed‐term contract, with the possibility of extension.

A competitive salary range of $110,000 to $140,000 per annum is offered, negotiable based on the preferred candidate's experience.

Key Responsibilities

Product Leadership

* Define project scope, functionality, timelines, resource allocation and budgets.
* Translate business and user needs into clear product requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
* Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring priorities align with product roadmaps and strategic goals.
* Work closely with stakeholders to define product goals and drive delivery of key initiatives.
* Make informed trade‐off decisions when balancing priorities, technical constraints and available resources.

Technical Delivery

* Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure solutions are technically feasible, scalable and high quality, collaborating on requirements, priorities and reviews for each sprint.
* Support technical discussions around architecture, system design and development decisions.

Product Performance & Improvement

* Monitor product performance and analyse usage data, metrics and feedback.
* Identify opportunities to improve functionality, usability and performance, while also looking to improve design and user experience.
* Work with software engineering teams to triage issues, resolve bugs and manage risks.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

* Partner with cross‐functional teams including software engineering, marketing and customer support.
* Provide guidance, training and support to internal and external teams on platform features and capabilities.
* Maintain communication with stakeholders to manage expectations.
Selection Criteria

We are looking for someone who combines technical understanding with strong product leadership and stakeholder collaboration experience.

* Previous experience as a Technical Product Manager or similar role in a modern software or product environment.
* Strong experience managing product backlogs, writing clear user stories and defining concise and detailed acceptance criteria.
* Demonstrated experience understanding customer needs, pain points, and motivations to develop products that meet customer requirements and deliver value.
* Ability to prioritise features based on customer needs, business goals and technical feasibility.
* Strong analytical skills to collect, analyse, and interpret data to inform product decisions.
* Competency to participate in technical discussions, code reviews and architecture decisions, including system design, scalability and performance optimisation.
* Understanding of programming concepts, including data structures, algorithms and software design patterns.
* Experience collaborating with cross‐functional teams.
* Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‐technical audiences.
Technical Familiarity (Desirable)
* Wordpress/WooCommerce
* Full‐stack development environments e.g. MERN stack.
* AWS & DigitalOcean
* Google Workspace tools
* AI, especially Gemini & Vertex AI
* Machine learning
