Mammoth Underground is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Junior / Graduate Mining Engineer to join our Technical Services team at our underground coal operation.
This entry-level position is ideal for recent engineering graduates looking to develop their skills and gain practical experience in a dynamic underground mining environment.
This is a permanent, full-time site-based role, working a 9-day fortnight, reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent. A competitive salary is on offer for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
* Mine Planning & Design
* Assist in the preparation of short-term mine plans, development layouts, and production schedules.
* Update mine plans using CAD or mine design software. AutoCAD advantageous
* Monitor roadway development progress and reconcile against the approved plan.
Data Management & Reporting
* Prepare daily and weekly technical reports, performance dashboards, and variance analyses.
* Maintain accurate mine plans, survey data, and statutory documentation.
Safety & Compliance
* Support compliance with the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and relevant site procedures.
* Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety improvement initiatives.
* Promote a visible safety culture through field inspections and engagement with crews.
Professional Development
* Participate in on-site training and mentoring development.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Essential:
* Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent).
* Strong commitment to safety and statutory compliance.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Willingness to work in an underground environment.
Desirable:
* Experience from vacation work, internships, or graduate programs in coal mining.
* Understanding of coal mining methods (bord & pillar).
* Current underground coal mine induction (e.g., Standard 11).
