We currently have a vacancy for Workplace, Health and Safety - WHS - Coordinator to join the Amazon Australia Team, and will be located within the Perth site at Perth Airport, reporting into the WHS Manager. The roles are being offered on a night shift pattern.
This role is open to anyone who has a particular interest in work health and safety and requires working with the WHS team to deliver high standards of safety within our Fulfillment Centre. The suitable applicant will be trained in both the standard work and tools used within the WHS function. You will be a strong communicator, who values teamwork, is proactive about safety and who can function as a role model and engage in a professional manner with the entire Fulfillment Centre workforce. Some of the responsibilities can include:
- Would suit a recent graduate with a degree in safety or a safety professional with 1-3 years experience
- Assist with risk assessments as required and follow up control measures to completion.
- Advise associates and managers on company procedures and legal requirements within the level of a Coordinators knowledge. Know their own level of competence and not give information outside this level.
- Monitor the Fulfillment Centre for compliance to company safety procedures.
- Assist in the implementation of Regional WHS management programs at site level.
- Assist with the investigation of incidents to establish root cause and develop required action plans with relevant processes.
- Update internal records with regards to incidents, near misses and accidents, Area Observations, Safety Inspections, pre-start records and 'Safety Saves'.
- Be involved in undertaking action plans to ensure continuing compliance with Legislation.
- Be able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving safety investigations.
- Monitor Dock and Yard safety procedures to ensure compliance.
- Carry out WHS training sessions for managers and associates as required.
- Flexibility on hours worked to cover shifts and escalations as required.
- 1-3 years experience in a similar role (preferable)
- Workers compensation and RTW coordinator experience (preferable)
