Environmental Compliance & Protection OfficerPlay a key role as an Environmental Compliance & Protection Officer at CBCity, helping to uphold the health, safety, and sustainability of our community. This position is responsible for implementing Council’s regulatory obligations in public health, environmental protection, and land use compliance under legislation such as the Local Government Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act, Swimming Pools Act, and the Public Health Act.Based within the Planning Department and reporting to the Team Leader Environmental Compliance & Protection, this role contributes directly to a safer, more sustainable Canterbury-Bankstown.Key Responsibilities:Provide high-level customer service and resolve issues in line with Council values.Manage priorities effectively to meet deadlines and deliver quality outcomes.Apply sound knowledge of relevant legislation including the Local Government and Public Health Acts.Gather and document evidence with strong investigative and conflict resolution skills.Prepare clear, professional reports, evidence briefs, and case documentation.Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats across a range of audiences.Work collaboratively within the team and support colleagues through guidance and mentoring.Essential Qualifications and Experience:Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health, Environmental Management, or related fields.Relevant experience in environmental health and/or compliance roles.A valid C Class Drivers’ Licence.Strong working knowledge of key legislation, including the Local Government Act and Public Health Act.Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment, while being a collaborative team member.Skilled in investigating and resolving matters efficiently and systematically.Sound decision-making abilities based on available information.Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills.Experience in preparing and presenting evidence in Court proceedings.Commitment to customer-focused problem solving through consultation and decision making.Experience with Pathway, ECM, and iShare systems, assessing environmental compliance for Development Applications, and providing expert advice and evidence in relevant courts is desirable but not essential.Salary and Benefits:The salary range starts at $90,858 (Grade G, Step 1) + 11.5% super and a Car Allowance.
