**Purpose**
The primary objective of the role is to lead all aspects of CHW's water resource strategy (both surface water and
groundwater) by ensuring that sound planning and evidence supports a sustainable water future and effective
management of our assets.
**Key Duties/Responsibilities**
**Strategy and planning**
- Leading the development of the Urban Water Strategy (every years).
- Proactively identifying strategic water resource risks and opportunities with a view to sharing challenges,
formulating ideas, instigating investigations and considering options.
- Undertaking strategic investigations, developing options studies and overseeing concept designs for major
water resource projects.
- Supporting the development of integrated water management plans and the Central Highlands Strategic
Directions Statement.
- Preparing strategic water resource reports, papers and presentations for the Board, executive management
team, senior management team and external stakeholders.
**Technical and operational**
- Leading the implementation of actions outlined within our Urban Water Strategy and supporting the delivery
of integrated water management projects.
- Leading the development of water resource planning activities such as annual water resource outlooks,
drought response plans and forecasting key budget items.
- Overseeing the development, update and analysis of water resource models and water demand models,
including identifying increased efficiency and productivity of our water and asset base.
- Generating strategic water trading, purchasing and transfer recommendations which includes maximising
efficiency, forecasting revenue streams and identifying beneficial trading/purchasing opportunities.
- Providing strategic guidance to support the uplift and development of asset management plans for water
resource teams.
**Stakeholder management and tactical**
- Liaising with government departments to understand and contribute to water resource planning initiatives
such as sustainable water strategies, climate change guidelines, SOURCE water resource modelling
working group and other strategic water resource initiatives.
- Collaborating with stakeholders across the region to deliver key water resource initiatives and leading the
region in the role of integrated water management champion.
- Collaborating with other water corporations, catchment management authorities and industry partners to
understand strategic water resource opportunities, bulk water agreements, bulk entitlements, water trading
options, environmental water needs and industry trends.
- Guiding the development and delivery of community engagement plans to consult with our customers on
strategic water resource options using community friendly content, information and concepts and ensuring
outwards facing Future Water Planning information is up-to-date on our website.
