Expression of Interest – Contract Tutors (Upper Primary /High School English & Maths)
New Tutoring Venture – Term 1, 2026
About us
ACE Community Colleges is a not-for-profit Registered Training Organisation operating across campuses in Lismore, Murwillumbah and Burleigh Waters. We are excited to launch a brand new tutoring business that offers an inclusive "shadow education" experience — ensuring all students (whether homeschooled or in mainstream education) have access to high-quality learning support.
About the role
We are inviting Expressions of Interest from dynamic, qualified and experienced tutors/teachers or even University students who are seeking contract, flexible work from Term
The role will involve tutoring upper primary and high school students (Years 5-12) in English and/or Maths, delivered either:
* In-person at our Murwillumbah studio, or
* Online, from anywhere in Australia.
As a key member of our team, you'll help shape our tutoring offerings, deliver sessions that make a real impact, and contribute to the growth of our new business.
Key responsibilities
* Provide personalised and engaging tutoring sessions in English or Maths for high-school students, focusing on literacy (reading, writing, comprehension), numeracy, exam preparation, and confidence-building with our inhouse learning system and content.
* Establish clear learning goals with students (and where appropriate, their parents/families), monitor progress and adapt tutoring strategies accordingly.
* Communicate effectively with students and families: give constructive feedback, track outcomes, adjust plans to maximise progress.
Eligibility & desired attributes
To be considered, you must hold:
* A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent for your state/territory or willing to obtain one for our safeguarding measures prior to engagement
* Exposure to the NSW curriculum
* A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Secondary Education or working towards this (Uni students please apply), or a relevant discipline with secondary teaching credentials (or be a current teacher).
* Experience tutoring, mentoring or teaching high school students (Years 5 -12), ideally in English and/or Maths.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with students of diverse backgrounds and with varying needs.
* Flexibility and adaptability to deliver online and/or face-to-face sessions, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
* Must be authorised to work in Australia.
We will value
* Demonstrated success in tutoring or teaching high school students — both one-on-one and in small groups.
* University students who are keen to gain experience with the curriculum before their teaching career begins
* Experience with NSW Department of Education standards or other state/territory curricula.
* Creative, self-motivated tutors who are eager to contribute to the growth of a new venture and operate both independently and as part of a team.
How to apply
If you believe that your tutoring/teaching experience, qualifications and passion could help inspire students and change futures, please submit:
* A current resume with contact details.
* Copies of your relevant qualifications and transcripts.
* A covering letter that addresses your experience in tutoring/teaching high school English and/or Maths, your availability (online and/or Murwillumbah studio) and why you'd like to join this venture.
Please submit your application via the SEEK portal, stating "Expression of Interest – Contract Tutor 2026" in the subject line.
We look forward to reviewing your expression of interest and to launching something great together in Term 1, 2026.
