Job Summary Hay War Memorial High School (HWMHS) is a comprehensive co‑educational school located in the town of Hay in the Riverina region of south‑west NSW. The school sits on the land of the Wiradjuri and Nari Nari peoples and has an enrolment of 138 students, which includes 15% from First Nations backgrounds. Established in 1923, it boasts modern facilities, strong community ties and a focus on differentiated teaching practices with a compressed curriculum model for years 11 and 12.
Responsibilities
Provide educational leadership informed by data, evidence and relational trust to advance teacher improvement and student outcomes.
Lead and embed systematic, data‑informed improvement cycles, including the planning, implementation and evaluation of initiatives within the School Excellence Plan.
Foster inclusive leadership that engages students, staff, families and the wider community.
Build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.
Manage development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.
Plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.
Implement the Department's Aboriginal education policy and ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Qualifications & Requirements
High‑level educational leadership experience leading a complex public school focused on high‑quality education.
Ability to lead rigorous and inclusive whole‑school teaching and learning programs.
High‑level communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with data‑informed improvement cycles.
Experience with Aboriginal education policy implementation.
Unconditional full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education.
Conditions Applicants must hold an unconditional full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education or commence the approval process at the same time as applying.
Additional Information The total remuneration package is $217,879.00, including a base salary of $192,461.00. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level P2 for 2025 and 2026.
