Do you like technical and regulation related challenges and want to be a key part of a high performing team that supports the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of regulated services in the Territory? Then this opportunity is for you!

A position of the Senior Electrical Engineer is available within the Utilities Technical Regulation (UTR) team. UTR supports the Technical Regulator by providing advice on a broad range of issues relating to the technical regulation of licensed and unlicensed utilities. Applications from experienced people are sought who could support delivery the electricity team’s works program. The application should include responses to selection criteria and CVs.

The successful candidate will apply their technical knowledge and skills to support the effective technical regulation of regulated utility services in the Territory. They will also contribute to the development and strengthening of regulatory settings and the shaping of operational policies to support the rollout of new electrical infrastructure and ensure alignment with evolving national‑level reforms.

The successful candidate must have highly developed communication skills, including the ability to develop a range of high-quality written documentation, including technical advice to agencies withing government, legal instruments, a range of briefings, annual compliance report, and Cabinet submissions.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

* Either of the following is essential:
o An electrical engineering degree; or
o A demonstrably relevant engineering or science degree, with demonstrated expertise relevant to electrical network and/or large-scale installations.
* The Applicant must hold a current class C drivers licence.

Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of six months, with the possibility of permanency. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.

A Merit pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Please note, this position will be in a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
