The Opportunity
This role is responsible for installing, modifying, maintaining, and repairing electronic instrument and control systems for water supply/drippers, feed systems (electronic sow feeder system), and piggery environmental control systems including ventilation & fan systems, blinds, and heating systems.
This role ensures that the electronic and control systems that control and manage the environment within the piggery units are operational, safe, constant, and stable at all times 24/7 and 365 days per year to ensure positive animal welfare environmental conditions and outcomes.
This position works to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the South Australian Piggery Unit Farms operations including scheduled and ad hoc maintenance and troubleshooting and ensuring all Workplace
Health and Safety requirements are met. Adopt polite and effective work practices in order to maintain an efficient, clean, and tidy environment for all staff and visitors.

Tailem Bend Piggery - Tailem Bend SA 5260 with travel to and from our other South Australian sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake checking, maintenance and repair of instrument/control systems and equipment located in piggery farm units with a focus on, piggery unit water supply/drippers, piggery unit feed systems (electronic sow feeder system) and piggery unit environmental control systems that includes:- ventilation systems, fan systems, blinds and heating systems;
* Ensure instrument/control systems and equipment located in piggery farm uptime is achieved by effective and efficient preventative maintenance and repairs on all control systems;
* Liaise with Piggery Unit Manager on planned upgrades and maintenance schedules for instrument/control systems;
* Complete reactive and breakdown instrument/control system maintenance when required;
* Examining and testing equipment, instruments, and control systems to troubleshoot and diagnose faults;
* Adjusting, repairing, and replacing worn/defective parts and maintaining control systems, equipment, and instruments;
* Conduct and record product tests and diagnostic activities to support piggery environmental controls and the production process;
* Installing, upgrading, modifying, and calibrating electronic instrument/control systems;
* Support the Maintenance Planner and Farm Electrician with planning and completion of instrument/control system works and projects;
* Maintain a high level of quality control in accordance with the quality assurance standards; with a focus on continual improvement of all electronic instrument/control systems;
* Ensure any non-compliances that may affect the safety and integrity of instrument/control systems are reported;
* Implement and undertake coordination of instrument/control systems and equipment works programs for sites;
* Ensure all new or reconditioned replacement parts, systems and equipment meet quality standards;
* Inspecting designs and finished products for compliance with specifications and regulations;
* Undertake instrument/control systems workshop functions such as refurbishment/reconditioning of parts, repairs, PLC controls and equipment;
* Assist with the identification of any problems and non-conformities and process, providing cost effective business solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
* Trade or technical (AQF Cert III) qualification in industrial, electronic or maintenance or similar qualification with electronic or electrical background preferred. In absence of formal qualifications, minimum 3 years relevant and related employment experience;
* Minimum 2 years relevant and related work experience in mechanical, electrical, or related field;
* Demonstrated safety leadership in the past and will strive to maintain a safe and healthy workplace;
* Experience working in a farming environment, with exposure in intensive animal production an advantage;
* Demonstrated expertise in the hands-on deliver of both scheduled and emergency maintenance in an agribusiness environment;
* Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel an advantage;
* Capability with development of yearly budget planning including equipment upgrades and parts.
