Process Control Engineer
Fortescue's Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people. Reporting to the Senior Process Control Engineer in the OPF Engineering Quality & Reliability department, this role provides ongoing support and maintenance to bespoke software systems essential to successful operations.
Safety practice – anticipate and resolve potential problems to ensure a zero-harm environment.
Commissioning of drives, instrumentation, and miscellaneous field devices.
Design and develop new control systems and maintain existing ones to ensure optimal utilisation.
Liaise with relevant departments to provide technical solutions for operational support and projects.
Continue to develop process and process-control knowledge to deliver continuous business improvements.
Build co-operative relationships to design new equipment or systems with internal and external experts.
Implement improvement ideas based on detailed examination of recurring process-control problems.
Support ongoing maintenance of control systems assets including PLCs, servers, network and communication equipment, and field devices.
Qualifications and Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a process control system engineer in fixed plant or mining, with strong development and commissioning background.
Working knowledge of mineral-processing plants and balanced machines.
Preferred experience with GE/Emerson & Siemens Step 7 (TIA Portal) PLC programming or other PLC brands.
Basic knowledge of functional safety standards such as AS *****, AS *****:****, IEC *****.
Good knowledge of GE CIMPLICITY and Ignition SCADA or other packages.
Experience with process instruments, control-system design, Profinet diagnostics (preferred).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; excellent problem-solving and continuous improvement focus.
