What will you be doing?
We are looking fora Market/Senior Reporter for a maternity cover to cover the domestic agriculture markets, includinggrains, livestock andmeat through commodity price assessments, analysis, and news coverage, maintaining and expanding the contact base and representing Argus at industry events. The reporter will also aid with the development of market coverage alongside the senior reporter and the global agriculture editorial team.
This role will require a collaborative approach, working with team reporters and industry stakeholders to report on markets. It requires self-motivation and the initiative to drive projects forward with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Commodities industry experience would be an advantage but is optional. Intelligence, curiosity, writing ability and a genuine desire to produce quality journalism are the primary qualities we look for in a diverse pool of candidates.
1. Monitor and assess fast-moving markets to produce price assessments and intelligence, market commentaries, news,analysis,and reports.
2. Establish strong relationships with key members of the industry and business leaders through meetings and daily communications to gain an in-depth understanding of your market.
3. Proactively generate news leads and pitch stories, contribute copy to the relevant publication and the online news service,andcontribute touniquecontent (blog posts, white papers, webinars, podcasts, .
4. Collaborate with colleagues on the desk and other teams to enhance and drive coverage.
5. Attend meetings,conferences,and industry events to build contacts, report on news and represent Argus in the industry.
6. Build your industry expertise and writing skills to provide readers with first-class market insights and analysis.

What we’re looking for in you
7. A strong bachelor’sdegree preferably, in Economics, Journalism, Communications, Business or a relevant field.
8. The ability to develop, verify and write industry-relevant news/content to deadline is preferred.
9. Prior experience working in the energy, commodities or journalism sector is helpful but not essential.
10. Interest in and enthusiasm for commodities, energy markets, global business, politics, and economics.
11. Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite with experience in Excel.
12. Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives.
13. Able to work independently whileengaging and collaborating in line with the Argus values: Excellence, Integrity, Partnership, and Inclusivity.

Travel

Hours
Monday through Friday, 9.00. to 6.00.
Earlier or later hours, or weekend hours, may be expected on occasion.
