Game Strategy Director
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping our playing style, building team culture, and driving high performance across all facets of the program. As a key public face of the club, you will be a leader in our community, and a role model while remaining deeply connected to the island we represent.
You will play a critical role in establishing trust, credibility and connection with fans and partners from day one. You will be expected to lead with character, humility and strength, setting the tone for a high-performance culture grounded in strong values.
We are seeking an exceptional individual to become our inaugural Game Strategy Director — a foundational leader who will help shape everything that follows. This role is for someone who understands that coaching success extends far beyond the whiteboard.
The Tasmania Jewels are the newest addition to the WNBL, proudly becoming the league's first expansion licence and ninth team. About the Role:
* Lead the development of a cohesive team culture built on resilience, accountability, and professionalism.
* Oversee game strategy, scouting, and video analysis to prepare the team for competition.
* Manage player development programs that support growth on and off the court.
* Drive recruitment, talent evaluation, and roster planning in collaboration with club leadership.
* Build strong working relationships with assistant coaches and high-performance staff.
* Represent the Jewels through community engagement, media appearances, and club initiatives, including youth and grassroots programs.
* Support club events and public engagements to strengthen the Jewels' brand and visibility across Tasmania.
* Contribute to strategic planning, program development, and long-term success measures.
About You:
* Proven experience as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach at a professional level, with a strong track record of success.
* Deep knowledge of basketball strategy, game management, and player development.
* Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a focus on building trust and fostering teamwork.
* Strong understanding of the WNBL landscape, including competition dynamics, player recruitment, and development strategies.
* Experience with modern basketball analytics, video analysis, and scouting systems.
