Position Description:
Senior System Administrator
implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.
Key duties and responsibilities:
The Services, delivered in collaboration with and under supervision by nominated Department personnel, include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Provide technical direction / advice to vendors performing professional services on behalf of the Department.
* Assist CIO Command staff with the technical aspects of designing, building and implementing new business solutions into the Department ICT environment.
* Work together with Department business users and system administrators to improve and optimise the implementation, use and management of ICT & business solutions.
* Collaborate with Department staff to diagnose and resolve operational and technical problems.
* Actively engage with CIO Command staff to leverage solution expertise and contribute positively to expanding the Department's knowledge base.
* Actively participate in software configuration planning and management.
* Actively alert Department management to any design, build, testing and quality risks, assumptions and dependencies that may be identified.
* Produce overall system design / implementation documentation and relevant procedures / policies.
* Enforce and adhere to all levels of compliance in the ICT environment.
* Work effectively in a small team environment of specialists.
* Provide knowledge/skills transfer to other team members and provide mentoring, coaching and training.
* Remain accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements, share own expertise with others and guide and mentor less experienced buyer employees.
* Record and maintain files/information in accordance with Department requirements.

* Maintains currency in information technology processes and technical knowledge through ongoing professional development.

* Contributes to and implements improved ICT practices and procedures.
* Works effectively in a small team environment, and wider Command environment.
Technical skills candidates would need to have for this role:
* BAE Cross Domain Solution.
* Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (On Premise).
* Microsoft SharePoint.
* Microsoft SQL Server.
* Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory Services.
* Microsoft Exchange and email.
* Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
* VMWare Virtualization.
* Network Fundamentals.
Essential Criteria:
Solution:
1. Demonstrated experience in designing, configuring and fully deploying complex ICT systems into federal ICT environments.
2. Demonstrated experience in collaborating with a team throughout the full project lifecycle to achieve business objectives.
3. Formal information and communications technology qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution or demonstrated skills and experience.
4. Demonstrated experience in achieving accreditation of complex multi-domain solutions.
5. Proven experience in the provision of ICT services in your related field of expertise.
Ability to deliver:
1. Excellent interpersonal and corporate communication skills.
2. Proven ability to keep up to date with technical developments and to adapt expertise accordingly in the areas of contemporary Cyber security best practice.
