Our organisation is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join their team in Canberra. This is a permanent position with an immediate start, offering a competitive hourly rate and shift loading penalties.
The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on rolling stock, including testing, diagnosing and repairing electronic, mechanical and electrical components. They will also be required to inspect bodywork, roofs and undercarriages for wear and tear or damage, and carry out regular checks on brakes and couplings.
To be eligible for this role, applicants must hold a trade diploma in electrotechnology or mechanical fitting, and have relevant experience working with rail, rolling stock, light rail, bus, automotive mechanics, earth moving/mobile plant and heavy diesel fitters. Previous experience in bus vehicles, lorry freight maintenance or service activities is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, the ability to read and comprehend technical drawings, and excellent record-keeping abilities. A pre-employment medical will be required, and the successful applicant must have full-time working rights in Australia.
