**Who we are**
The Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) is part of the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. As primary agency for Australia's Antarctic Program (AAP), the AAD is responsible for achieving the Australian Government's Antarctic goals.
These goals are to:
- maintain the Antarctic Treaty System and enhance Australia's influence within it
- protect the Antarctic environment
- understand the role of Antarctica in the global climate system
- undertake scientific work of practical, economic and national significance.
The AAD also has responsibility for administering the Australian Antarctic Territory and the Territory of Heard Island and McDonald Islands.
The Assets and Technology (A&T) Branch provides and maintains the equipment and infrastructure to support the AAP. A&T Branch activities range from the maintenance of existing Antarctic stations and equipment through to the design, manufacture, testing, operation and procurement of advanced scientific equipment and systems. The Branch manages major infrastructure projects in support of AAP outcomes.
The Infrastructure Delivery Section is a key element of A&T and is responsible for the construction of the built infrastructure at Australia's Antarctic and sub-Antarctic stations and a project management group at the AAD's head office in Kingston, Tasmania. It works closely with other sections within the branch to support the design, operation and maintenance of all station infrastructure.
**The Job**
As the Project Control and Governance Coordinator you will be responsible for managing project governance, planning, and reporting for the Macquarie Island Station Project.
The role involves implementing governance systems and processes, collaborating closely with project teams to manage and deliver building and construction works. The position will work with the Commercial and Contracts Lead in ensuring good governance and effective project control processes.
- Undertake project governance and reporting activities for the project, including Steering Group requirements, Gateway review planning, contract management and risk, and issues and benefits management.
- Effectively work with a high performing multi-disciplinary project team, working to tight timeframes while adapting to be responsive to project and organisational needs.
- Be responsible for effective project planning and documentation requirements including project plans.
- Effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders including external consultants, on project impacts and requirements, including commercial and financial aspects associated with the project.
- Assist with Government and parliamentary approvals.
- Identify and respond to non-commercial legal and legislative issues.
- Prepare accurate and concise reports that detail program/project status and outcomes across a range of technical and management activities including the ability to monitor/maintain project costs and schedule.
- Maintain weekly reporting on status of overall project management components and related risks and develop other documentation, requirements and specifications as required.
- Work with a level of independence, under broad direction, with a concurrent need to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomes.
- Communicate and make decisions that are based on professional judgement.
**Knowledge and experience**
- Demonstrated experience supporting the delivery of projects with a preference for experience within the infrastructure and construction industry.
- Demonstrated experience in complex project governance models including Design & Construction, Alliances, Public, Private Partnership or similar.
- Experience in the development and implementation of project control processes, risk and issue mitigation and management Awareness of the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPR's), Public Works Committee and Environmental processes and how they are applied.
**Skills and capabilities**
- Excellent interpersonal skills, good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders is essential.

**Citizenship** - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.
**Security Clearance** - This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a
