About Western Australia Nickel - WAN
Western Australia Nickel is a fully integrated mine‐to‐market business. Our culture is rich with technical know‐how, highly efficient and focused on innovation. Western Australia Nickel Leinster is in the northern region of the Goldfields. Employees commute to and from Perth on a FIFO roster or have the option to live residentially in Leinster. SPQ‐village and Leinster town are approximately 15km from the mine site.
About The Role
Leinster mine site has an underground mine that is accessed via a portal and a mineshaft. The shaft has a headframe that encompasses a Cage winder used for personnel and material movements up and down the shaft to different levels and a Skip‐winder with two skips that are used for hoisting ore and waste rock from the bottom of the mine. This Electrical role covers High Voltage, UG Electrical Reticulation, Shaft Winder Electrical, Fixed Plant Maintenance, Instrumentation and underground Leaky feeder radio system. The role will suit someone who enjoys a variety of tasks rather than repetitive work.
Reporting To The Electrical Supervisor, Duties Will Include
* Complete quality, task‐based risk assessments.
* Completion of scheduled work orders and preventative maintenance plans.
* Diagnose and resolve electrical faults in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
* Ensure all electrical work complies with mining regulations, site procedures and Australian standards.
* High voltage switching operations – Surface and underground.
* Statutory Compliance testing as per Energy Safety and Mines Act.
* Maintenance and repair of mining electrical infrastructure –
o Ore handling system – Underground Rock breaker, crusher, feeder, conveyors, loading flasks.
o Dewatering pumps and pump stations underground.
o Primary ventilation on surface, secondary ventilation underground.
o Underground Refuge chamber servicing.
o Jumbo Drill Electrical servicing – Sandvik.
o Leaky feeder radio system.
* Statutory inspections, testing, maintenance, fault finding and repair of Cage and Skip winder systems.
* Identify opportunities for improvement in reliability, efficiency and energy use.
Roster & Travel
* The role will be based at BHP Leinster mine site, surface and underground environments.
* The roster is 7/7 dayshift only. Fly to site on Tuesday evening, commence work on Wednesday morning, and fly out on the following Tuesday evening at the completion of the swing.
About You
To be successful in this role you should possess:
* An overriding commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
* Current "A" grade Western Australian Electrical License (Unrestricted).
* High Voltage Switching certificate. 11kV and 33kV networks used at Leinster.
* Current LVR / CPR.
* Willingness to learn and adapt to UG mining conditions.
* Australian C class driver's licence.
* 1SAP and FIORI experience (highly desirable).
* Computer literacy skills in MS‐Office (desirable).
* Foster positive & productive working relationships and team culture.
