**About the role**

The Academic Manager provides support for the efficient and effective management of campus operations in the delivery of learning and teaching of relevant programs. This incorporates responsibilties for campus timetabling, management and support of Academic Coordinators, ongoing review and currency of curriculum, academic quality assurance, professional development, student support and fostering strong links with academic staff at Deakin University.

**Key Result Areas**

1. Leading learning and teaching activities at the Burwood campus of Deakin College, including;
- empowerment and support of Academic Coordinators, with the fostering of professional excellence amongst academic staff on all matters relating to student learning needs.
- monitoring academic liaison requirements with Deakin University.
- assisting with the development of new programs to meet the expansion and growth plans of Deakin College

2. Supervising student assessment processes and outcomes at the Burwood campus

3. Supporting the Academic Director through ensuring the comparability of learning outcomes, curriculum and assessment practices with Deakin University campuses

4. Assist the Academic Director with the management of the Academic Division including;
- empowerment of the Academic Coordinators
- supporting the preparation of the campus academic timetable each trimester
- conducting and supporting academic staff with annual reviews and performance issues
- implementation and promotion of Deakin College and Navitas policies and procedures
- participation in the Deakin College Academic Committees

5. Oversee the transfer of students completing Diploma courses to the relevant degree programs at Deakin University.

6. Provide appropriate guidance and advice on the regular administration of examinations, special consideration requests ensuring relevant policy and procedures are adhered to

7. Monitor the academic performance of all students enrolled at the campus in conjunction with Academic Coordinators

8. Provide guidance with the creation of examination timetables, meeting the needs of students and staff within the limitations imposed by the academic calendar and venue availability and capacity

**Qualifications and Selection Criteria**

Essential
- Tertiary qualifications at the postgraduate level in a discipline relevant to one of those offered by Deakin College
- Demonstrated excellence in leadership and management within a higher education environment, including an ability to build strong sustainable teams, manage resources and coordinate a broad range of academic functions
- Substantial experience in curriculum development, including the management and evaluation of learning and teaching effectiveness
- Demonstrated experience in effective teaching, including ability to develop scholarly, innovative and flexible approaches to teaching and facilitation of learning
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire students and staff
- Proven success in working collaboratively and an ability to build highly productive relationships across a range of internal and external partners
