Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising for Operators to join Mount Isa Mines. These are excellent opportunities to commence a career within the mining industry or further your experience and develop your technical skills and industry knowledge. The successful applicants will be someone that is hands on and keen to develop and learn the skills found within the Copper Smelting Operations. These positions are residentially based in Mount Isa.
The Role
The operational roles at the Copper Smelter are separated between the Primary & Secondary areas. These roles play an integral part in converting copper ore to blister copper, utilizing various pieces of machinery and fixed plant equipment to efficiently manage off-gasses and optimize recoveries.
These positions report to the Primary or Secondary Supervisors- working a 2 Day 2 Night 4 off roster.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Promoting and reinforcing a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvementMaintain Plant hygiene and housekeeping around the plantTraining in areas of the plant such as Anode wheel/Tapping floorManual handling using tools such as crow bars, hammers and jackhammersProgressing through to other more challenging tasks within a short timeframeWorking with the teams to support production targets are safely metMaintaining a high level of safety in the workplaceMonitoring, reporting and conducting thorough equipment prestart inspectionsSafe operation of machinery across site and positive communication
