Job Description

\

The Transit Lounge Administration Officer provides and maintains a highly responsive and effective administrative support and customer service function to the Transit Lounge.

\

The role contributes to patient safety and patient flow by performing a skilled reception and customer service role to patients and visitors attending the Transit Lounge and the Emergency Department, as well as providing an admission, discharge, and administrative support function to assist Nursing, Medical and Allied Health staff in the department whilst maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, emotional resilience, attention to detail and a data quality focus.

About This Role

\

This role is responsible for exercising judgement and initiative to resolve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been established and procedures have not been defined, ensuring a satisfactory outcome is achieved.

\

The ideal candidate will have proficiency in the application of computerised information systems and applications, as well as proven ability to act as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team in a highly dynamic environment to deliver high quality services to clients.

\

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide and maintain a highly responsive and effective administrative support and customer service function to the Transit Lounge.
\
2. Contribute to patient safety and patient flow by performing a skilled reception and customer service role to patients and visitors attending the Transit Lounge and the Emergency Department.
\
3. Provide an admission, discharge, and administrative support function to assist Nursing, Medical and Allied Health staff in the department.
\
4. Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, emotional resilience, attention to detail and a data quality focus.
\
5. Exercise judgement and initiative to resolve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been established and procedures have not been defined.
\
6. Act as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team in a highly dynamic environment to deliver high quality services to clients.
\
7. Demonstrate understanding of privacy and confidentiality principles and how these apply to the role of the Administration Officer.
\
8. Provide a safe and comfortable place for patients to wait for collection and to complete final discharge arrangements.
\
9. Assist patients requiring final treatments, patients waiting transport to other facilities for ongoing care and management excluding patients requiring cardiac monitoring.
\
10. Support patients requiring completion of discharge paperwork, patients who cannot be collected by relatives/cares, patients who are travelling by ambulance and patients awaiting inter hospital transfers.
\
11. Foster effective communication and collaboration with Nursing, Medical and Allied Health staff to ensure seamless delivery of patient care.
\
12. Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families and carers to promote positive outcomes and enhance the patient experience.
\
13. Stay up-to-date with changes in policies, procedures and clinical practice to ensure continuous improvement and optimal patient care.
\
14. Promote a culture of safety, respect and inclusivity within the team and the organisation.
\
15. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and standards to protect the rights and interests of patients and staff.
\
16. Participate in performance improvement activities and contribute to quality initiatives to drive excellence in patient care.
\
17. Support and participate in education and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge and improve patient outcomes.
\
18. Develop and implement strategies to improve patient flow, reduce length of stay and enhance overall efficiency.
\
19. Identify opportunities for process improvements and make recommendations to leadership to optimise patient care and service delivery.
\
20. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement evidence-based practices that improve patient outcomes and reduce readmissions.
\
21. Provide timely and effective reporting to inform decision-making and drive improvements in patient care and service delivery.
\
22. Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive records to ensure accountability and transparency in patient care and service delivery.
\
23. Perform other related duties as required.
\
24. Evaluate and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of patient care and service delivery.
\
25. Analyse data and trends to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for change.
\
26. Communicate effectively with patients, families and carers to provide clear information about their care and treatment options.
\
27. Offer culturally sensitive care to patients from diverse backgrounds to ensure equitable access to healthcare services.
\
28. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement strategies to improve health outcomes and reduce disparities in healthcare.
\
29. Engage with local communities to raise awareness about healthcare services and promote healthy lifestyles.
\
30. Build partnerships with community organisations and healthcare providers to enhance access to healthcare services and promote coordinated care.
\
31. Stay up-to-date with best practice and emerging trends in patient care and service delivery to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
\
32. Support and participate in research and evaluation activities to advance the science of patient care and service delivery.
\
33. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in peer review to ensure excellence in patient care and service delivery.
\
34. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement strategies to improve patient engagement and empowerment.
\
35. Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families and carers to promote positive outcomes and enhance the patient experience.

36. Communicate effectively with patients, families and carers to provide clear information about their care and treatment options.

37. Provide culturally sensitive care to patients from diverse backgrounds to ensure equitable access to healthcare services.
