About the Venue:
Located just one hour south of Sydney in the scenic Illawarra region, Novotel Wollongong Northbeach is a premium 4.5-star beachfront hotel overlooking North Wollongong Beach. The hotel offers 209 stylish rooms and suites with breathtaking ocean and mountain views. It features five food and beverage outlets, a pool, fitness centre, convenience store, and 15 versatile event spaces making it a destination for both leisure and business guests, as well as a premier venue for weddings, conferences, and large-scale functions.
About the Role:
We're looking for an enthusiastic and guest-focused Front Office Duty Manager to lead our front desk operations and deliver an exceptional first impression to every guest. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll be the go-to person for managing daily front office activities, mentoring the team, and ensuring every guest enjoys a smooth and memorable stay. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and service-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-touch hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support the front office team to deliver seamless check-in and check-out experiences
Respond to guest queries, feedback, and emergencies with professionalism and care
Ensure daily procedures and service standards are consistently upheld across all shifts
Coach, train, and develop team members to foster a high-performing and engaged team culture
Oversee daily reservations and room allocations to support occupancy and revenue goals
Actively assist at the front desk during peak times, ensuring attention to detail and service excellence
Act as the Manager on Duty in absence of the Hotel Manager, overseeing hotel operations and ensuring guest and team safety at all times
Coordinate emergency procedures and incident responses, ensuring compliance with safety protocols
Work collaboratively with all hotel departments to deliver a unified and guest-centric experience
This role requires availability to work on a rotating roster, including evenings, overnights, and weekends
About You:
Experience in a front office supervisory or leadership role within a hotel
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a guest-first mindset
Solutions-focused and calm under pressure, with the ability to manage unexpected challenges confidently
Proficient in hotel systems (e.g., Opera, PMS) and comfortable with Microsoft Office tools
A team leader who motivates through example and brings energy to every shift
Passionate about hospitality and committed to delivering outstanding guest experiences
Available to work on a rotating roster, including evenings, overnights, and weekends
A leadership role within one of the region's most iconic beachfront hotels
