Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing the design process on behalf of the constructor, ensuring design outcomes are optimised, aligned with delivery requirements, and meet client expectations. Working closely with Project Directors, engineers and design partners, you will serve as the key interface between the construction and design teams, providing effective coordination and integration to support the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of projects.

What you'll be responsible for

* Lead and manage the design process to ensure alignment with construction delivery objectives and client requirements

* Drive programme performance by ensuring design deliverables are achieved within required timeframes
* Manage regulatory approvals and coordinate engagement with third-party stakeholders
* Developing and delivering innovative technical solutions to resolve design-related issues and achieving stronger project outcomes
* Support feasibility assessments, design planning and contract development activities

What we're looking for

* Highly capable Design Manager with demonstrated experience across complex infrastructure or civil construction projects
* Strong understanding of the integral role design plays in successful project delivery
* Proven expertise in managing a broad range of stakeholders, balancing competing priorities, and providing clear leadership throughout the design lifecycle
* Pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach and ability to operate in dynamic project environments with programme, cost and quality outcomes
* Skilled in identifying risks early, resolving issues efficiently, and ensuring project momentum
* Exceptional relationship management and communication skills, with ability to foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and align stakeholders towards common objectives
* Commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes and contributing to project performance
* Opportunity to influence design outcomes and progress your career within a high-performing construction business
* Ability to engage with First Nations communities and reconciliation initiatives is part of our culture

We are committed to reconciliation and building and nurturing respectful relationships with First Nations peoples through our First Nations Engagement Strategy and Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

If our values resonate with you, please submit an application for the position. If you're not sure that you meet 100% of the selection criteria, that's okay, we would still like to hear from you and potentially discuss how your skills could be utilised at Fulton Hogan.
