Our client has just received the green light on a suite of new measures and they are now expanding their team to deliver high‑impact programs that support equitable access to healthcare across the country.
We are seeking an experienced APS6 Team Leader to guide a small team responsible for administering key health workforce initiatives. This is an opportunity to step into a role with real purpose, influence and visibility - shaping outcomes that directly support communities in regional, rural and remote Australia.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will lead a team of case managers, oversee complex workflows, and provide high‑quality advice across program administration, policy interpretation and stakeholder engagement. You'll play a central part in ensuring program integrity, legislative compliance and consistent decision‑making during a period of significant reform.
You'll also contribute to broader planning, reporting and corporate activities within the section, helping to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
* Leading and mentoring a team with limited direction, ensuring high performance and consistent program delivery.
* Managing workflow, quality assurance and escalated or complex enquiries.
* Providing guidance on legislation, policy and program administration.
* Preparing briefs, correspondence, reports and other written advice.
* Building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Managing agreements in line with program management principles and compliance requirements.
* Contributing to planning, reporting and corporate management activities across the section.
To be successful in the short-listing process, candidates will be required to demonstrate:
* Strong understanding of the Australian health system and its workforce challenges.
* Demonstrated experience in program management including analytical capability and evidence‑based decision‑making.
* Strategic thinking, sound judgement and the ability to solve problems collaboratively.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships.
* Ability to work independently while leading and motivating a small team.
* A track record of taking responsibility for team outcomes and contributing to broader organisational goals.

Federal Government experience is highly regarded and will be considered an advantage in this role.
