Job Title: Mechanical Specialist
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Specialist to join our team at a large scale, complex milling/mixing site. The ideal candidate will have proven mechanical and maintenance knowledge within the food industry and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the management of the maintenance function, ensuring plant reliability and efficiency. This role involves assembly, fabrication, blueprint interpretation, machining, installation, maintenance, inspection, and testing.
Responsibilities:
* Assemble and fabricate metal parts to create or repair production machines and equipment.
* Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand specifications for assembly.
* Operate tools such as lathes, drills, grinders, and cutting equipment to shape and prepare metal parts to required specifications.
* Install and align machinery, components, and pipework.
* Perform routine maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical failures, and replace worn or defective parts.
* Use precision measuring instruments to check parts for accuracy and fit, and conduct tests to ensure machinery is functioning correctly and safely.
Qualifications:
* Proficiency with a variety of tools and machinery, including precision measuring instruments.
* Experience within the food manufacturing industry highly desired.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Strong attention to detail to ensure precision in fitting and assembly.
* Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
