NthStar Constructions is a well-established, family-owned builder with over 50 years of successful operation across Queensland. As our New Build division continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated and capable Estimator to become an integral part of our expanding team.
You will be actively involved from project inception, visiting sites, assessing buildability, engaging subcontractors, and contributing commercially to how projects are won and delivered.
This position will suit either an experienced estimator, or a strong emerging professional ready to step into a broader role with increased responsibility. As the division expands, there is genuine opportunity for this role to grow in scope and influence.
The Opportunity
Working within our New Build arm, you will support a diverse portfolio of New Build projects including:
* Non-completed residential builds
* New residential homes
* Renovations and extensions
* Insurance-related construction works
* Opportunities to collaborate with the broader team on multi-million-dollar commercial projects
What We're Looking For
We are seeking someone who is motivated, professional, and grounded, a team player who takes ownership of their work and is eager to continue developing their career.
Essential:
* Site experience estimating residential construction projects
* Strong understanding of construction methodology
* Ability to confidently interpret drawings and specifications
* Well-developed communication skills with clients, consultants, and stakeholders
* High level of organisation and attention to detail
* Self-motivated with a proactive approach
Highly Regarded:
* Carpentry or Building Trade background
* Exposure to commercial construction, or a genuine desire to grow into this space
You do not need to be a commercial specialist today — but you must be willing to learn and ready to step up as opportunities arise.
Key Responsibilities
* Site Attendance and Scope Development
* Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions
* Conduct site visits to inform methodology, risk identification, and pricing
* Develop feasibility estimates and early cost plans
* Manage subcontractor pricing, trade packages, and negotiations
* Liaise with clients, consultants, and suppliers to clarify scope and requirements
* Identify risks, scope gaps, and cost-saving opportunities
* Support tender strategy and project handover to delivery teams
* Collaborate with the broader business on larger projects when required
* Maintain estimating systems and cost databases
